The benefits of weight-loss journaling
Weight loss plans can be challenging, from deciding which type of diet to use to the perfect exercises that fit your body style. Dieters today need an easier way to track their progress and by doing so with a weight loss journal. A journal will help keep any dieter on track with their daily progress. It can also let them be aware of how much and what they are consuming. When they notice that their weight loss is not going according to their goals, they can look back and see why.
There are two types of journaling needed to ensure weight loss achievement. One is keeping a food diary and the second is keeping an exercise log. Both of these will help any dieter stay on track with their weight loss success.
The first thing you will need to start journaling is a notebook. Find a notebook that is easy to carry with you so that you can journal every food intake after you consume it. This way, you won’t forget to make a note of what you ate during the day and stay on track with your diet. Also, if you go to the gym right after work, you can log in your exercises right after your done.
Keeping a food diary will help you document every meal and snack you eat in a day. Breakfast, lunch and dinner should be written down to every bite and also what you drink should be written down. Since some drinks have a high calorie count, it is good to know if your daily calorie intake is coming from extras that are in drinks.
Snacks should be written down, even if you only sneak one bite. Snacking is a habit that should not be over looked. When you start your journal, you will notice the time of the day that you feel the urge to snack. Once you are aware of that time of day, you can prepare ahead of time what type of snack you should eat. That way, you don’t lose control at the vending machines or even stop at fast food places on your way home.
Now that you have your food intake written down, it is time to start logging your exercise routine. There are many different kinds of exercises that will help with weight loss, but finding the right one is the hardest. Different body types will adapt to certain exercises. That’s where your exercise log will come in handy. You can track what time of day you have the most energy to workout and also see what exercises are helping you with your weight loss.
A simple log will consist of the exercise you perform and how many sets and repetitions of each exercise. Cardio exercises will be tracked by your time spent, how far and fast you completed with that exercise. In addition to this, write down how you felt after each exercise. This will help you continue with that exercise or find another that will make you excited about exercising.
Journaling is the most effective way to track your weight-loss goals. Whether you are just starting out with your weight-loss plan or have been dieting before, keeping track of your daily intake of food and exercises you perform will help you make adjustments to succeed your goal. Start off with a goal in mind and stick to it so you don’t give up.
